Abstract
Xylanase is the most important enzyme among the xylanolytic system. Most of the microbial xylanase is inducible. In this article, we studied the influence of different carbon sources to the production of the xylanase from Bacillus pumilus WL-11, and the phenomenon that the xylanase activities rising during the cell death period when using xylose as the only carbon source. The results show that the xylanase from Bacillus pumilus WL-11 is inducible, and xylan is the best inducer in all tested carbon sources. The induction of xylose in lower concentration is more than that in higher concentration. Released consisted-enzyme during the cell death period leads the increase of the xylanase activity.
