Abstract
Enriched denitrifying polyphosphate accumulating organisms (DNPAOs) was immobilized with sodium alginate and activated carbon to form composite beads. The physical properties of beads were investigated and abilities of simultaneous denitrification and dephosphate with immobilized organisms were determined under anaerobic/aerobic conditions. Results showed that average removal of COD was 74.9%, phosphate 95.3% and NH4+-N 95.2% respectively.
