The Effect of Ghrelin on the Expression of NPY and AGRP mRNA in the Hypothalamus after Injection of Ghrelin i. v in Shaneng Goats

Abstract

To investigate the effect of ghrelin on expression of NPY and AGRP mRNA in the hypothalamus after injection of ghrelin i.v in female shaneng goats,ten dairy goats were randomly divided into 2 groups:experiment group and control group (n= 5).The expression of NPY and AGRP mRNA was studied with relative quantity RT-PCR method after injection of ghrelin i.v in goats.The results shown that ghrelin could significantly up regulated the expression of NPY mRNA in the hypothalamus(P0.01),the expression of AGRP mRNA was remarkable increased after injection of ghrelin i.v in goats(P0.01).The above studies suggested that ghrelin may be involved in regulating the expression of NPY and AGRP mRNA,it provided the physiological data for ghrelin in regulating the food intake,body weight and energy metabolism of milk livestock.
