Abstract
This paper makes an investigation in the origin and formation of the ritual tradition of the Miao people from the perspectives of ritual evolution recorded in the Han classics,the Miao history and culture and the existing Miao folks' ritual phenomena with the conclusion that the early Miao folk rites were varied and complexed,the earliest of which being the system of worship.
