Abstract
Ethylene glycol monohexylether was synthesized from ethylene oxide and 1 hexanol in the presence of catalyst. The sequence of the effects on reaction was catalyst1 hexanolreaction temperaturethe kind of catalyst. The optimum production conditions were as follows:ethylene oxide:1 hexanol = 0 5 mol∶1 mol, reaction temperature 100 ℃,1 hexanol:catalyst = 1 mol∶0 09 mol.Under the optimum conditions, the yield of ethylene glycol monohexylether reached 85 4%,the purity of product was 98 5%.The structure of ethylene glycol monohexylether was characterized by IR spectrum and MS.
