Abstract

Effects of the plastic film mulching(DM),liquid-film mulching(YM) and open ground(ck) on the growth and development of flue-cured tobacco variety NC89 were studied. The results showed that DMYMck for all the morphological and physiological characters of tobacco tested after 30d and 45d of transplanting, including the leaf blade length, breadth and areas, the entire dry-weight above ground, the dry-weight of roots per plant, the numbers of first and second lateral roots per plant, the diameter of first lateral root, the stem-base thickness and root activity.Liquid-film mulching had significant effects on coordinating the growth relations between the aboveground and underground of tobacco. The root/shoot ratio was YMckDM after 30d of transplanting, and ckYMDM after 45d.YM could greatly promote the longitudinal growth of root, enhanced the root activity and stress resistance, and prevented the early aging.Liquid-film was a new, clean and no-pollution mulching material.
