Abstract
Objective: To find the role of p19 gene in the growth and development of glioma. Methods: Immunohistochemical S-P method was used to detect the expression of p19 in 66 glioma and 23 normal brain tissues.Chi square test was used to analyze the difference in the expression of p19 protein. Results: The positive expression rate of p19 was(28.79)% in 66 gloima and 60.87% in 23 normal tissues, and it was 57.89% in grade Ⅰ glioma,26.92% in grade Ⅱ glioma, and 4.76% in grade Ⅲ and Ⅳ glioma. There were significant differences in the positive expression rate of p19 between glioma and normal brain(P0.01),between grade Ⅰ and grade Ⅱ glioma(P0.05),between grade Ⅱ and grade Ⅲ and Ⅳ glioma(P0.01),and between grade Ⅰ and grade Ⅲ and Ⅳ glioma(P0.05).Conclusion: p19 gene may involve in the growth and development of glioma, and the detection of p19 protein may help determine the malignant degree of glioma.
