Abstract
Pop music enjoys great popularity in people's life for they are efficient means to relax and inform. Pop song lyrics are indispensable part of pop music for its function of information loading. The present paper is intended to study the special genre of contemporary English pop song lyrics from the perspectives of the cohesive devices,namely the cohesive functions of reference,parallelism and repetition,theme and rheme,conjunction,and phonologic cohesion.
