Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of coxsackie - adenovirus receptor (CAR) on leukocytes of various types in peripheral blood and sexual influence. Methods The mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) in peripheral blood lymphocyte, monocyte and granulocyte was measured through flow cytomertry. Results The flow cytometric analysis showed that MFI of CAR for male leukocytes was markedly increased compared with female leukocytes, and the differences of CAR MFI among lymphocyte, monocyte and granulocyte were not significant. Conclusion The expression of CAR in peripheral blood leukocytes is different in sex, but not in types. Flow cy tometry is a good technique to examine CAR expression.
