Abstract

Workflow engine is the core of a workflow management system. It explains workflow model definition, controls and maintenances how a workflow instance works. The relational data structure of a embedded workflow engine-based workflow management system is analysed. A three-tier system architecture based on J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) is investigated. In particular, a workflow-enabled platform is developed by integrating a workflow middleware into the framework, to build a embedded workflow engine-based workflow management system.
