Abstract

The aesthetic thought of Zong Baihua originated in the revolutionary times in the early 20th century when Chinese old culture declined and the new culture was in germ. Facing the confusion and argument, he resuscitated some aesthetic spirit of ancient China, investigated into the structure of artistic conception, interpreted the paseo aesthetic theory, and answered back the turning period with the cultural criticism and comparison between China and the west.
