Abstract
The reason of replacing IPv4 to IPv6 is well known.In networks based on TCP/IP, the problem of address resolution ( and re ? address resolution ) is very important . IPv4 uses protocols ARP and RARP to solve this problem but IPv6 uses a new protocol to solve this problem , ie : Neighbor Discovery Protocol which is involved in IMCPv6 . The combination of neighbor solicitation message and neighbor advertisement message replaces ARP of IPv4 . We have had well technologies for ARP and RARP . And the neighbor discovery protocols are being developed and tested . The problems about address resolution in IPv6 are discussed and their technologies and functions between neighbor discovery protocol in IPv6 and ARP / RARP in IPv4 are compared . The technologies of ARP / RARP to introduce technologies of IPv6 will used in future .
