Abstract

The shellfish species, ecological distribution, floral texture, community structure and the seasonal biomass variation in Liusha Gulf are investigated, based on annual qualitative and quantitative survey data of shellfish of intertidal zone and shallow water belt in the same sample point of this gulf(20°22'103″-20°28'526″N,109°55'341″-109°59'185″E) in March,2008 to January,2009.The results showed that the shellfish species composition in Liusha Gulf included 3 classes,7 subclasses,13 orders,42 families,104 species belonging to 79 genera. In terms of species composition,Veneracea has 24 species,Ostreidae and Mytilidae 6 species respectively,Potamididae and Neritidae 5 species respectively, each family of the other rest family contains less than 5 species respectively.According to the characteristics of the shellfish species of this Gulf, the warm-water species are absolute superiority.Considering classification, the shellfish floral texture of Liusha Gulf should belong to China-Japan subtropical subregion under the Indo-West Pacific region. The seasonal variation of shellfish biomass is very obvious.
