Abstract

Objective To evaluate the applied value of intraoperative ultrasound and electrocorticography monitoring in resection of eloquent brain tumor. Methods A series of thirty-eight cases of intracranial tumors were resected under intraoperative ultrasound united by electrocorticography monitoring. The clinical data and postoperative outcome were analyzed. Results All the 38 lesions were accurately defined by intraoperative ultrasound.Total removal was achieved in 26 cases and subtotal resection in 12 cases.Neurological symptoms improved and no severe complications appeared. No patients died also. Conclusions Intraoperative ultrasound united by electrocorticography monitoring can accurately locate the eloquent tumor and retrieve the brain shift. It can improve the total removal and depress the mortality and disabled rate.
