Clinical analysis of 50 cases of sphenoid sinus disease

Objective To probe into the clinical characteristics,therapeutic efficacy and misdiagnosis status of sphenoid sinus disease in order to improve the diagnosis.Methods The clinical data of 50 patients with sphenoid sinus disease were analyzed from 2001 to 2009. Results Cystis was the most of sphenoid sinus disease,the second was eumycete infection,and then malignant tumor.Among malignant tumor,the most was metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma.The clinical manifestations of sphenoid sinus disease were headache(78%),sight alteration(50%),cranial nerve palsy(24%),and nose bleed(32%).Conclusions The nasal endoscopy is the convention examination for the patients with sphenoid sinus disease.Endoscopic sinus surgery is the optimal method for sphenoid sinus disease.
