Source rock qualitative evaluation in Binbei area of Songliao basin and determination of hydrocarbon generating threshold

Abstract

After many rounds of exploration,no substantial breakthroughs have been achieved in Binbei area of Songliao Basin.Hydrocarbon Qualitative source rock evaluation is an important work for judge research area oil/gas exploration potential.Qualitative analysis of hydrocarbon source rock indicated that high abundance of organic matter,well type,low maturity.Oil generating threshold in this area has been studied by geochemical index about w(S1)/ w(TOC),w(S1)/w(S1+S2),chloroform asphalt content w(″A″)/ w(TOC),w(HC)/w(TOC) and so on.Considering oil generating threshold is 1 600 m in Binbei area of Songliao Basin,400 m deeper than predecessors.Due to hydrocarbon source rocks burial relatively shallower in Binbei area,this understanding must make considerable reduction the amount of hydrocarbon generating and expulsion.Correspondingly,the main source rock generated hydrocarbon has been postponed from the end of K1n sedimentation to the end of K1ms sedimentation.
