Abstract

For high-rise buildings, it is important to make a comparison between different air-conditioning refrigeration schemes because the application of different air-conditioning refrigeration schemes would lead to different energy consumptions and investments. In the paper, two air-conditioning refrigeration schemes (water-cooled and air-cooled) for an intelligent building are compared, especially the performance data, initial costs, annual running and maintenance costs, energy consumptions, make-up water, noise and vibration, etc. The water-cooled chiller scheme is finally chosen because there is no space sufficient for an air-cooled chiller system.
