Abstract

A mathematical model of the cathodic protection potential distribution on the submarine pipeline was established in this work. The FLUENT software was used to make simulation calculation of the cathodic protection potentials on the submarine pipeline, and the effects of seawater conductivity and pipeline coating damage rate on the cathodic protection potential distribution were studied. Results showed that the simulation calculation results based on the model were in good agreement with the experimental ones. With the increase of seawater conductivity, the cathodic protection potentials moved towards the negative direction. The decrease of coating damage rate was helpful for the uniform distribution of cathodic protection potentials.
