Abstract

The methods of immobilization, the carriers and the size of carrier which were used to immobilize white rot fungus were studied by comparing removal rate of COD and phenol. The results indicated that the direct adsorption method was better, with the COD removal rate about 97% and the phenol removal rate 100% after 16 h;vegetable sponge was the best carrier compared with the others, with the COD removal rate about 96% and the phenol removal rate 100% after 15 h.The effects of the size of carrier on the removal rate of COD and phenol were different. The phenol removal rate was higher while the COD removal rate was lower when the wastewater was degraded by dusty carrier instead of shell.
