Abstract
Objective: To explore the role of tumor suppressor gene P53 and cell-cycle related gene cyclin D1 ,Rb in the carcinogenesis and progression of esophageal cancer. Methods: The expression of P53, cyclin Dl and Rb in 59 esophageal cancer tissue species were detected by flow cytometry (FCM). Results: The expressions of cyclin D1 and P53 in poorly-differentiated esophageal cancer tissue were lower than those in well-differentiated esophageal cancer tissue(P0. 05); The expression of Rb in poorly-differentiated esophageal cancer tissue was lower than those in well-differentiated esophageal cancer tissue, but no significant difference was found(P0. 05). The expressions of all three proteins were not correlated with lymph node metastasis. Conclusion: The expressions of cyclin Dl and P53 are closely related to tumor differentiation of esophageal cancer; The up-regulation of cyclin Dl and deactivation of P53 may involved in the carcinogenesis and progression of esophageal cancer.
