Abstract
It lias been found, that the light absorption curve of liquid extracted from the mulberry leaves by water is similar to that by hydrochloric acid. The most influence factor on extracting natual dye from the mulbeny leaves is the type of extractant. The sodium hydroxide is an effective extractant when it is used at the concentration of 20% , which can make the liquid color to become deep and get a high light absorption value. The solution of three extractants have good stability against light and reduction and could be kept for days under certain condition. The ability against oxidation of the extraiting liquid with water or hydrochloric acid is poor whereas that of the extracting liquid with sodium hydroxide is better. The mulbeny leaf dying liquid extracted at one times can supply the use for several days, which save time ,la-bor and reduce cost, and is advantageous to practical development of the mulbeny leaf dye. In order to seek developing ways of multi-use for mulberry leaf, the factors to influence effective extracting dye liquid from the mulberry leaves and its stability have been studied.
