Abstract
Based on remote sensing and Geographical Information System technologies, the spatial distributionand the vegetationcharacters of the wetlands of Jilin Province have been analyzed. The results show that the wetlands are mainly distributed in the eastern and western parts of Jilin Province. The wetland area of six counties in the western part accountsfor 67.37% of the total area of wetland in Jilin Province. The area of wetland in Jilin Province decreased greatly from 1982 to 2002.Especially,the wetland area in the western partdecreased to 22.1%,so that theprotectionand sustained utilizationof wetland resources have become rigorous missions.
