Abstract

The influence of vanadium on structure, mechanical properties, inclusion and precipitation of 400MPa grade hot rolled ribbed bar is studied, which is alloyed by vanadium ferrous and deoxidized alloyed by V2O5 powder or vanadium slag. The results show that all mechanical properties of the ribbed bar can meet the requirement of GB1499-98 by no means of alloying method in case of the content of vanadium is 0.06%~0.08%.There is no effect on vanadium precipitation ratio and the mean size of precipitate in which vanadium is added in different alloying method. If the Ar gas blowing time is increased by 5 minutes in the ladle refining, the steels are nearly pure by deoxidized alloying of V2O5 powder or vanadium slag as by directly alloying of vanadium ferrous.Deoxidized alloying is a new method to reduce the cost of vanadium bearing steel.
