Abstract

[Objective]To investigate the effect of luteolin on gap junction intercellular communication and the expression of protein in Cx32/Cx26-transfected Hela cells.[Methods]SRB assay was used to detect the cytotoxicity of luteolin on Hela cells. The function of GJIC was determined by parachute dye-coupling assay.Western blotting was performed to detect the expression level of Cx26.[Results] Luteolin had no cytotoxicity on Hela cells at the concentration of 0~1 μmol/L;Preatreatment of cells with luteolin increased intercellular dye transfer and the Cx26 protein expression.[Conclusion] Luteolin enhanced the function of gap junction in Cx32/Cx26-transfected Hela cells, probably through the improvement of Cx26 expression.
