Abstract
OBJECTIVE To find out the initial clinical efficacy of one-stage microtia reconstruction with MEDPOR Framework by observing the change of auricle, fine structure and symmetry of the auricle. METHODS The shape of auricle, hearing, image and psychology of the patients with congenital microtia were assessed and one-stage auricle reconstruction with MEDPOR Framework were performed. External auditory canal reconstruction and tympanoplasty were performed in some of the patients at the same time or other time. The shape of the auricle were regularly observed and the effect of surgery were recorded. RESULTS All patients were followed up for 3 months to 10 years after operation. The shape of the reconstructed ear was symmetrical to the normal one and the reconstructed ear showed good structure. Hearing reconstruction surgery did not affect the appearance of the reconstructed ear. CONCLUSION This method is feasible with short time therapy, few complications and good clinical effect. It is worth spreading clinically.
