Treatment of Keratoconus with Keratoplasty

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of therapeutic keratoplasty on treatment of keratoconus.Methods Deep lamellar keratoplasty and penetrating keratoplasty was performed on 21 cases(23 eyes)of keratoconus,All patients were followed up for 4 to 23 months after surgery.Results The correct visual acuity achieved 0.4 or better in 21 eyes of 19 cases,correct vision was 0.8 or better in 4 eyes of 3 cases.Reject reaction occurred in 1 eye of 1 case.The graft kept clear in 23 eyes(100%).Conclusion Therapeutic keratoplasty is an effective way for the treatment of keratoconus.
