Abstract
Ultrastructure differences of flue-cured tobacco leaf trichome under water stress were studied by transmission electron microscope. Results showed that the top cell of trichome under normal irrigated condition contained abundant organelles in the cytoplasm, and a great deal of the dark small osmiophilic droplet existed in the vacuole.Under mild drought stress, the number of organelles decreased, vacuole enlarged, and the number of dark osmiophilic droplet increased. In severe drought stress, the trichome top cell contained fewer organelles in the cytoplasm and more osmiophilic droplets. Some cells, were dissolved.
