Surveillance and valuation of Labortory for Poliomyelitis from 2006-2010 in Guizhou Province

Objective To analyze the surveillance data in polio laboratory of Guizhou and evaluate the running status,provide laboratory data for maintaining polio-free sataus in Guizhou province.Methods Adopted the methods of virus isolation、virus identification and nucleotide sequencing to carry out the virological examination and made an analysis on the result of polio virus surveillance of AFP cases and their contacts by collecting stool specimens in 2006-2010 form whole province.Results A total of 2 204 part stool samples of AFP cases were collected during 2006-2010,332 part stool samples of APF contacts and 310 part stool samples of other crowd were collected to polio laboratory of Guizhou province.209 non-polio enterovirus(NPEV) strains were isolated from AFP cases,and 54 poliovirus strains were isolated from AFP cases.33 NPEV strains were isolated from AFP contacts,and 6 poliovirus strains were isolated from AFP contacts.27 NPEV strains were isolated from other crowd,and 9 poliovirus strains were isolated from other crowd.ALL of the polio positive isolates were identified by national polio laboratory.All of the polio viruses were vaccine-associated polio virus strains.The polio laboratory of Guizhou province passed the proficiency testing and site certification assessment of the WHO and National Polio Laboratory every time.Conclusion The polio laboratory in Guizhou province ran normal,no wild-type poliovirus(WPV) or Vaccine-derived poliovirus(VDPV) was found.Polio-free states were maintained in Guizhou province.
