Abstract
This paper first analyzes the shortcoming in traditional firewall and the existing firewall-based security systems. Then the mobile agent and its characteristics are introduced. By using these, it defines distributed firewall system and the individual firewall . Finally the course of designing and deploying an agent-based distributed firewall system is presented through the illustration of agent-based component design.
