Abstract

patients were studied with fast FLAIR sequence and T2-weighted fast spin-echo sequence prospectively- and a comparison between T2-weighted imaging(T2WI) and fast FLAIR imaging was made. Results revealed that FLAIR sequence detected 172 focus of disease- whereas T2-weighted fast spin- echo sequence detected 123 focus of disease. The former was more sensitive than the later. The extent and border of the lesions on FLAIR images were showed better than on T2WI. The constrast of lesion-to-normal and lesion-to-CSF(cerebrospinal fluid)were higher in FLAIR. The lesions of the brain were better demonstrated by FLAIR sequence than T2WI- espically in the case while the lesions were around the cerebral surface or ventricle. FLAIR has high clinical value in diagnosing brain disease- and it is an important complementary technique for rountine SE sequence.
