Abstract
The responses of the interspecific competition between Alexandrium tamarense and Heterosigma akashiwo to UV-B radiation enhancement was studied by co-culture method. The results demonstrated that the different inoculative proportions of Alexandrium tamarense and Heterosigma akashiwo had apparent effects on interspecific competition between them. When the inoculative proportion of Alexandrium tamarense and Heterosigma akashiwo was A∶H=1∶4, Heterosigma akashiwo would be in predominance in the competition. However, Alexandrium tamarense would be in predominance when A∶H=1∶1 and A∶H=4∶1. The UV-B radiation treatment could change the competition between Alexandrium tamarense and Heterosigma akashiwo, and it could promote the competitive dominance of Alexandrium tamarense. Therefore, the competitive dominance of Alexandrium tamarense changed more remarkable under UV-B radiation treatment when A∶H=1∶1 and A∶H=4∶1.
