Eeperience of laparocscopic cholecystectomy in elderly patients

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the safety and feasibility of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) in elderly patients,and to explore how to keep away from its risk. Methods:One hundred and five elderly patients admitted from Feb.2007 to Mar.2010 underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallbladder diseases in our hospital,and the clinical data of these patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results:Eighty-eight cases with laparoscopic cholecystectomy were succeeded. Seventeen cases were transferred to open operation,no serious complications or death occurred.Conclusion:With the proper perioperative management and technique refinement,LC is a safe surgical operation in selective elder patients.
