Abstract
To remove boron from metal-grade silicon had to solve the problem that the separation of boron in directional solidification was not obvious because of the large segregation coefficient of boron.Adding steam to acid-treated silicon powder at high-temperature,boron could diffuse, react with steam and ultimately be removed. The relations between silicon particle size, temperature, reaction time and the efficiency of removing boron were established through experiments.
