The Clinic Effect of Partial Superficial Parotidectomy in Parotid Pleomorphic Adenoma

Objective To evaluate the clinic effect of partial superficial parotidectomy.Methods The clinic effect and complication were compared between Fifty-six patients with parotid pleomorphic adenoma underwent partial superficial parotidectomy and Fifty-six patients selected randomly from the medical record who received superficial parotidectomy.Results The recurrence rate was not significantly different between the two surgical modalities,but complications(facial paralysis,Frey's syndrome and salivary fistula) were lower in partial superficial parotidectomy than in superficial parotidectomy(P0.05).Conclusion Partial superficial parotidectomy could retain more parotid gland tissue,had less complication and can be the first choice for the treatment of parotid pleomorphic adenoma.
