Abstract

Objective To discuss the relation between the expression of COX-2 in breast cancer and the development and prognosis of breast cancer. Methods With?-action gene as reference, the COX-2 mRNA was monitored in 35 specimens of breast cancer tissues, paried adjacent breast tissues, normal breast tissues by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results The rate of position COX-2 expression was 0.83 for breast cancer tissues significantly than that for the paired adjacent breast tissues(0.17)and normal breast tissues(nearly no expression)(P0.05),the expression of COX-2 was not correlated with the clinical parameters, such as patient's age, size of primary tumor,P-TNM stage, and therapy before operation(P0.05),but correlated with lymph node metastasis(P0.05).Conclusion COX-2 overexpression may play a crucial role in the carcinogenesis, development of breast cancer.
