Yuan Hongdao and Wu Culture

Wu culture is a mature type of culture in the Late-Ming epoch. Yuan Hongdao,the representative poet of Gong'an school,has been the magistrate of Wu county for two years,then traveled Wu Yue areas. On one side,this thesis deals with the change of his personality and aesthetics and literature ideas degree on the impact of Wu culture,such as pursuing the comfort and noninterference which lead to form his Spirit of nature philosophy and poetry creating vivid and brisk poems by absorbing the advantage and style of folk songs of Wu. On the other side,this thesis exposes that he criticizes the intellectuals of Wu area for they have not paid close attention to the new ideological trend and been fettered by the popular poetry trend of imitating and restoring of ancient. It represents the main difference between the Gong' an school and the poets of Wu area.
