Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the early diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma and contents of serum sICAM 1. Methods The levels of serum sICAM 1 were determined by ELISA in 60 cases of colorectal carcinoma, 21 gastric carcinoma, 17 breast carcinoma and 9 healthy controls. Results Serum sICAM 1 of colorectal and gastric carcinoma was much higher than that of healthy control (P0 01). Serum sICAM 1 of breast carcinoma was not significantly different from healthy controls (P0 05). Positive rate of serum sICAM 1 in colorectal carcinoma was higher than that in gastric carcinoma (P0 05). Level of serum sICAM 1 was significantly related to the course and pathology of colorectal carcinoma. Conclusion The level of serum sICAM 1 is one of early diagnosis standards in colorectal carcinoma.
