There is much difference in present studies about the basis of Mencius's theory of good humanity.Some people believe that the basis of Mencius's theory of good humanity is mind,and the others believe it is heaven.Based on Mencius original text,analyzing from time and logic aspect,we believe that the metaphysical basis of Mencius's theory of good humanity is heaven.Because of the special social background and cultural tradition Mencius regarded heaven as the basis of his theory of good humanity.Mencius's theory of good humanity is very important to the development of Chinese traditional culture.
