Abstract
Objective To investigate the regularity of cervical lymph node metastasis in the tongue squamous cell carcinomas patients and the treatment principle to the cN 0 patients. Methods By retrospective analysis of 439 squamous cell carcinoma of oral cavity cases underwent neck dissection between 1980~2001. Results The total rate of cervical lymph node metastasis of tongue squamous cell carcinoma is 43.96%; the rate of occult metastasis is 26.66%, the incidence of occult metastasis was closely related to the staging of T. Conclusion This study revealed that the therapy regime of the tongue squamous cell carcinoma should be based on the careful clinical examination of primary lesion according to the size and the compositive analysis of cervical lymph node.
