Abstract
The effect of Cd alloying element on corrision property of magnesium alloys is analyzed. The experimental results show that the matrix microstructure is remarkably refined by adding small amount of Cd to pure magnesium, and the corrosion resistance is improved also. However, with increase of Cd content, the corrision potential shifted to negative and made the alloy active. The secondary phases accelerated corrosion for their higher potential.
