Abstract

Based on the 60 tidal flat profile elevation data measured in 2007 and the historical terrain elevation data along the Jiangsu coast, the morphological characteristics, the type and the trends of the erosion and of the coast are studied. The main conclusions are as follows.First, the main shape of the tidal flat profile along the Jiangsu coast is slope shape, slope and convex shape, concave shape and convex shape. The different tidal flat shapes reveal the different trends of the erosion and deposition.Second, there are five demarcation points between the erosion zone and the siltation zone, such as Lianyungangxisu,Guanhekou,Biandangangkou,Dongzhaogang and Tanglugang.Third, above the intertidal zone of coastal areas, the erosion coast shows false deposition in different degrees and the coast still maintains a certain rate of silting to the sea.Below the intertidal zone of coastal areas, most of the underwater slope is eroded except that the coasts from Simaoyou estuary to Xiaoyangkou estuary still maintain siltion.
