Abstract

OBJECTIVE To study the effects of lactobillus on inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans in vitro.METHODS C.albicans mixed with Lactobillus acidphillus,Lactobillus casei,Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Lactobacillus brevis one by one for culture, the change of the Gram stain and the number of colony forming unit change of candida albicans after culture was observed.RESULTS The mixture culture revealed that Lactobillus acidphillus had the most inhibitory effect on the growth on candida albican in MRS medium.Morphologically, there were obvious changes to the cell wall and cytoplasm of Candida albicans after growth inhibition. After addition of lactobillus acidphillus to MRS medium, the number of colony forming units of candida albicans were decreased from(11.62±2.68)×103 CFU/ml to(4.23±0.63)×103 CFU/ml(P0.01).CONCLUSION Lactobillus acidphillus can inhibit the growth of Candida albicans and destroy its normal structure.
