Abstract

According to the operational rules,precipitation and positions of subtropical high ridge from 1951 to 2005 were analyzed in order to determine the standard on rainy season and abundant rainy season.The results indicated that the normal beginning and end times,the earliest and the latest beginning and end time of rainy season and abundant rainy season in Liaoning province could be determined if precipitation and positions of subtropical high ridge were used as division standards on rainy season and abundant rainy season,respectively.Furthermore,rainy season and main rainy season could be predicted precisely both in time and in quantity,which could serve for disasters prevention and reduction.Meanwhile,the rainfall in rainy season accounted for 60.8% of the yearly rainfall,and 95% regional rainstorm occurred in rainy season.Correlation coefficient between the duration of rainy season and the frequency of rainstorm in rainy season could reach 0.97,and correlation coefficient between the duration of rainy season and total precipitation in rainy season could be 0.98.Strong rainfall and serious rainy disaster often occurred in rainy season,and the regional rainstorm in abundant rainy season accounted for 70% of the total value.The duration of main rainy season might influence the frequency of regional rainstorm and the total precipitation of abundant rainy season to some extent.
