Investigation of Vascular Plant Resources in Shimen National Forest Park of Guangzhou

The status of plants in Shimen National Forest Park of Guangzhou was investigated.According to the investigation,a total of 1 096 species belonging to 599 genera,181 families of plants were found in Shimen National Forest Park.Among them,10 species were national key protected plants,9 species were rare and endangered plants,717 medicinal plants,377 ornamental plants,176 timber plants,106 fiber plants,101 oil-bearing plants,83 fruit plants,72 tannic plants,66 poisonous plants,56 fodder plants,52 aromatic plants,43 pesticide plants,41potherb plants,32 beverage plants,31 starchiness plants,23 dye plants,18 honey source plants.Some suggestions about how to protect and utilize the plant resource of the park were put forward in this paper.
