The Confucian Views of Music and the Basic Features of the Traditional Chinese Music

Abstract

Confucianism serves as the essence of the traditional Chinese thought. It has had a great influence on the traditional Chinese music with the characteristics of focusing on harmony, character cultivation, emotions rather than performances. Because of these, the traditional Chinese music does not pay much attention to the study of the law of music, and thus, the Chinese music becomes dependant and underdeveloped.
