Lexicalization and Grammaticalization of "Yi+N"(一+名) The Case of yigai(一概)

Yi+N(一+名) phrases are easily subject to lexicalization and grammaticalization.Yigai(一概) was at first a loose phrase,without highlighting either the container or contents.When used with high frequency,lexicalization led to the development of an adjective,which highlighted the contents being the same or similar.The lexicalization and grammaticalization of yigai occurred in the Tang Dynasty,with the lexicalization as a transition for the grammaticalization.But this usage has not survived in modern Chinese.When the phrase was further grammaticalized into an adverb,the container is highlighted as full,without exception. In the process of its lexicalization and grammaticalization,syntax,semantics and cognition all played a role.
