Abstract
Objective To investigate the telomerase activity in BALF cells from patients with lung cancer.?Methods PCR-ELISA was used to detect the telomerase activity in BALF cells from 36 patients with lung cancer and 32 patients with chronic bronchitis or benign pulmonary diseases.?Results The positive rate of telomerase activity in BALF cells was 83.3% (30/36) in lung cancer patients and was 6.6% (2/32) in patients with chronic bronchitis or benign pulmonary diseases ( P 0.01).?Conclusion Telomerase activity may be a specific tumor marker, and therefore an important index for the diagnosis of lung cancer.
