On Allusions in Huang Tingjian's Poems

Abstract

Huang Tingjian not only adheres to the confucian moral principles in order to maintain a perseverant indiveduality, but is characterized with the broadmindedness and freedom of Taoism.Meanwhile,he is also greatly influenced by Zen.In his allusions,he benefits form the polish given in Du Fu's poems,creativeness found in Han Yu'spoems,and Buddhist wisdom in particular,thus cultivating his rich allusions.But his allusions in their essence represent the tendency of writing poems with witsof the Song poetry.
