Abstract

The R IL s population that derived from the cross between Qishanzhan(indica) and Arkihikari(japonica) was used to study relationship between vascular bundle and panicle characteristics. The results showed that the phloem area of large vascular bundle in top second stem was significantly correlated with spikelets per panicle;there existed significant correlation among number of large and small vascular bundles, phloem area of large vascular bundle in top second stem and primary and secondary branches;the xylem area of large vascular bundle and area of large vascular bundle in top second stem had significant correlation with seed setting rate of primary and secondary branches and seed setting percentage, which indicated that large amount of large and small vascular bundle and large areas of phloem and xylem in top second stem are beneficial to improve panicle characteristics.
