Interaction of Spatial Structure Evolution and Urban Transportation

This paper explores the interaction between urban spatial structure and urban transportation by analyzing the evolution mechanism of urban spatial structure.With the evo-lution of urban spatial structure classified into external spatial expansion and internal structure adjustment,the paper reveals that the both parts are closely related with the development of urban transportation: the former depends on the renewal of means to travel and the change of travel modes,while the lat-ter relies on the improvement of traffic conditions in related regions.The paper identifies accessibility as a key element that plays an important role in the interaction of spatial evolu-tion and urban transportation,and further discusses the inter-action mechanism.
